GMSI 2025 is Sunday July 13 to Friday July 18!

GMSI takes place at the Rochester School at 222 South Main St, Rochester Vermont, and at other locations in the town of Rochester, such as Pierce Hall, Park House, the Federated Church and the Town Green.

The Green Mountain Suzuki Institute, located in Rochester, Vermont, is an approved Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) Institute for violin, viola, cello,, flute, and piano students ages 4-adult. Our outstanding and enthusiastic staff is committed to creating an inspiring week of music and fun for your family, providing inspiration for the year.

Each student at the institute has a mini-private lesson and a group class every day. In addition, each student chooses 3 elective classes from the following options: orchestra, composition, fiddling, viola for violinists, yoga, art, and for pianists Piano Duets (for four hands). Advanced students (Book 4 and up) may participate in a chamber music group (additional fee), coached daily.

A parent is required to accompany the student (or be nearby, on the grounds) throughout each day.

The Institute is an opportunity for parents to share ideas with other parents and teachers, reinforce each other's efforts, and learn new skills for working with their children. Parents often tell us that attending GMSI with their children is the highlight of their Summer, and so motivating for home practice all year long! Most GMSIers return year after year.

GMSI is in a very rustic location. The last few years VT and Rochester have experienced big storms, power outages, floods, and mud slides during the month of July. GMSIers stick together to be safe and strong in these times, and we are very grateful for sunny days, which we typically have 90 percent of the time. We are not alone in this as many other parts of the U.S. have also been experiencing natural disasters.  We mention all of this just as a heads up and to let you know safety is our top priority. The school facilities will be a safe haven if needed.

This year part of the high school may be under construction during camp week.  We will be able to use classrooms in a section of the high school not under construction as well as the elementary school and other buildings in Rochester.  Even with some of these past challenges, GMSIers return year after year.  Rochester is an incredibly gorgeous locale, infused with deep love, respect, and gratitude for Suzuki students and their families.
